I have two charges from iTunes on the 25th December and the 26th December, both for £1.58.

They're just pending at the moment. Are they authorisation charges - as I didn't buy anything from iTunes on those days - or should I contact the bank and report fraud?

Sounds like app purchases.

Have you had a look at your iTunes account? You can look at your purchases.

If not then definitely get in contact with your bank, someone may be using your card to purchase apps on their own account.

If you haven't purchased anything from iTunes then they won't be doing anything with your card. Check your iTunes account for purchases and change your password if anything looks suspicious.
