Amsterdam recommendations

I'm off to Amsterdam tomorrow to work for the week, can anyone recommend any good restaurants/places to go in the evenings?
I'm staying near the Van Gogh museum.

Oh and in b4 red light district and coffee shops, been there done that

There are many steak houses/unlimited ribs places around that area.

Great little bar called Bourbon Street that has live jazz/blues music was the hightlight of my trip a few years ago

There was a good Argentinian steak house near the Red Light District... can't remember the name of it but was on one of the main canals

If so it's ok but nothing special

Been to a Gaucho's in the city, overpriced IMO.

Spent the night in Amsterdam last summer. We went to a place called hummbars burgers and lobster. It was ok for student standards, but the square around there is packed with restaurants, we went looking round for about 10 mins before we decided. Also some nice pubs along the canals to the south.

All I can remember is eating in a pub on the river/canal bank with a big fat ginger cat sitting next to me...

Had that raw beef patty thing and could easily have been the greatest meal of all time.

All in all Amsterdam was a funny stop off on the way to Arnhem

Went to Humphrey's in October. A little under 30 euros for a three course meal and it was decent.
