3Tb drive showing as 746Gb

I installed a new 3Tb drive in my storage pc today but it only appears in disk management as 746Gb.

From a read online there are posts about upgrading the Intel Rapid Storage however all of these installs say unsupported platform. The current version of Intel Matrix Storage does pick up the correct size of 2794Gb so it does just appear to be Windows.

Does anyone have any suggestions of things to try or could it be a faulty drive?

Need to know pc spec. It could be mother board limitation.

Bare in mind there's different IRST depending on the mode the SATA controller is in.

Make sure you initialize the new disk as GPT not MBR.

Neither of the IRST will install with a "this platform is not supported" message. The drive is in GPT.

Its quite an old board youre using, have you tried a bios update?

Failing that if disk management is seeing the full disk you could make several partitions

In the BIOS, is the STA mode in IDE mode?

Sorry not able to get a screen grab just now, I haven't been into the BIOS yet as it doesn't have a monitor, keyboard and mouse connected as I just RDP on. Guess I was hoping for an easy fix in windows as it was seen in the intel matrix storage as the full size.

you need to delete the partitions on that drive and un-initialise the drive and re-initialise it as GPT. i had the same issue with my 3TB usb drive.

I didn;t fiddle with bios as such
