It's never been 850 for 3 years, its always been a 5 year package and the only major change was the mileage reduction from 60k to 50k a few years back :p

I've just had a trawl through the Baby BMW forum as you are making me doubt myself :o..

When i was looking to purchase the car early 2013 it was actually only £300 which was an incredible deal but when i put pen to paper it had gone up to £800 and the dealer wouldn't budge so i decided against it.

Am I reading that right, that 335i returns 48mpg~?! That's really impressive for the performance? Or are all modern 3L~ petrols like this... guess everything is more economical compared to mine...

If I was spending that much money on a 70k mile 3 series, I most definitely wouldn't get the 2.0 4-cylinder.

£18k for that seems really overpriced to me, but I'm not up to speed on the prices... I know you can get a low mileage similar age Z4 35is for that kind of money.

Not in real world usage.

Although... that 35i engine is very good for power/economy balance.

On a run, you can reasonably easily see 38-40mpg if you're light on the right foot.

Average is more likely to be 32-34 at best.

I think that's rather good though, for something with more than 300bhp

I know what you mean and a pity they did away with the 330i in the range with the 6 cylinder engine as I would have been more than happy with that.

Going to see it again tonight.. FSH, amazing condition. Specialist dealer asking just under 9k..

You are doing it a dis-service by phrasing it like that. It might be a 4 cylinder but it's not the budget option, it still does 0-60 in 5.8 seconds!

You cannot get a low mileage Z4 35iS for £18k, just a regular 35i. The reason why the F30 seems expensive is because it's a current generation car - technically so is the Z4 but the reality of the Z4 is that its a more dated car on the E90 platform.

Quite, in the real world the Hybrid is no better than the regular model really given the way it works.

I nearly bought a 2011 Z4 35is with 19k miles on the clock for £21k... and it seemed as though there could have been some movement on the price from the early discussions. It was either that or what I went for and I was adamant that it would have needed to be the iS with DCT.

There were a couple on the market around £18-19k, all under 50k miles... so lower mileage than the 3 series he has linked to.

You can't 'go 6 cylinder' because it replaced the 6 cylinder at that point in the model range. I agree with you, I prefer the 6 cylinder too and frankly I lean towards 6 cylinder diesel even before 4 cylinder petrol but this car is performance wise the new '330i' - that is its purpose in the model range.

You can only 'go 6 cylinder' if you go diesel or upgrade to 335i.

There is nothing like that advertised now - the only sub 50k mile £18k 35i's are regular ones, and most of those are much older. And remember the Z4 35i is effectively an E92 335i roadster... not an F30 alternative.

I'd rather be in a 328i personally than a 330i. But I MUCH prefer a turbo 4 to a straight NA 6. Although I'm not sure they did the straight 6 in the F30 did they? And at that budget I would imagine a nice F30 335i to be out of the equation.

I was just looking at paper figures comparing the 235i/435i to the e92 M3, it still seems like an impressive comparison, although granted they're going to be two complete different cars to drive.

I only took a 235i for 10min so didn't really get a feel for it, I had no idea it could be so economical. I'm loving the M3 but sometimes the fuel consumption feels like it taking the piddle no matter how conservative the right foot is :D

Picked this up on Saturday in Perth, Scotland and drove all the way back to Oxford. It was worth it though :D

2012 LE500 Santorini Blue with only 16,000 miles.

I have always wanted this colour M3. :)
