Bitcoin - complete idiot needs help

Looking to buy something online (nothing shady!) and the seller offers a discount for paying via Bitcoin. I have literally no idea about this, I've googled it and a recommended Bitcoin vendor has listings at about £300 right now. Is this for 1 Bitcoin? The purchase I want to make is only £50, can you buy smaller amounts of Bitcoin? Not sure the discount is large enough for this headache. Thanks.

Yes 1 bit coin is £300. you don't have to buy a full coin you can buy £50 worth.

But it's really not worth it, just pay the 50.
