Daddy has his model S written off ... But his daughter survives !!

Earlier this week, a 18-year old took her father’s Tesla Model S for a ride with 4 of her friends in Pullach, Germany. She was reportedly driving at an excessive speed and lost control in a turn. The vehicle jumped off-road “and flew 25 meters [82 ft] through the air” and crashed in a field at full speed before rolling over at least once.

Looking at the last picture of "The Ramp". that's one heck of a long way it flew !!

There is a great comment in the comments section heh:

Actually parenting is more about teaching your kids to do the responsible thing when nobody is watching. Without that it's not "parenting" it's "babysitting"

Is anyone else quite surprised that all of the vehicle's glass remains seemingly completely intact? A testament to the rigidity of the shell perhaps?

Tesla CEO Elon Musk likes to use the analogy of a pool to describe the effect a crumple zone has during an impact:

“it’s just like jumping into a pool from a high diving board — you want a deep pool and one without rocks in it.”

Great :D

It actually looks pretty good in this pic... the back is raised up like a spoiler and the front is more pointy and aerodynamic:

It may have faired better than your average car because its got no engine block at the front, your average hatchback would probably have nose dived and flipped, the central weight of the Tesla probably saved it from digging in any worse than it had.
