Favour to ask you guys, one of the only things I like to read in gaming journalism is long form articles where the site delves into a particular issue/studio/idea and produces an in-depth piece(s) about it all.

These things just dont make these sites money (its nowhere as cheap to produce as hundreds of click bait items) and its a dying art so Im wondering what you guys might have stumbled upon and enjoyed and feel its worth sharing/discussing in here...

Im making this thread in response to the great article Eurogamer has just put up about the rise and fall of Lionhead - its very much worth a read

Eurogamer said:
The inside story of how Lionhead rose and fell is difficult but also important. Those who worked there describe a studio high on the fumes of furious creativity, a place where mind-numbing failure would often accompany agenda-setting success. They describe a fiercely British culture that benefited - and suffered - from an American overlord hell bent on winning the console war. And they describe a studio created in the image of a man who inspires as much as he frustrates. It's a complicated story. But it's one worth telling.

If any replies can just have a link and a quoted intro paragraph what the article is about that would be great. I look forward to what you guys share! If the thread is particularly popular Ill attempt to do some sort of contents page...

P.S. I know Polygon is particularly good at these but please link anything including them :)

I'm not sure whether this is relevant or not, but there's an interesting video named 'A Case Study on Microtransactions' that actually takes a fair look at the other side of the argument and gives the viewer a lot to think about. If it doesn't quite fall into this category, let me know and I'll just remove the link from this post. But otherwise, here it is:

I really enjoyed reading about Lionhead. It took me almost a week of bus journey commutes to get through it all.

I remember reading a really good article years ago when magazines were still popular about Richard Garriott and the Ultima series/design house. I can't find it online unfortunately.
