I am till toying with getting a e46 330i/ci for 2-3k and hoping that one with FSH is in good condition.

I considered this a while ago, but finding a well looked after, low owner FSH car seemed impossible. All of them had 14 previous owners, various modifications and damage, budget tyres and questionable history. They're simply not special enough to be enthusiast owned any more. I'm sure there are some out there but it's a minefield of rubbish

I would just buy the best one you can find and accept that you will need to work on it a fair amount (probably). If you're going to be picky you will need to spend probably more like £5k on a car that will still have the potential to do silly things like decide it doesn't like its coolant or oil breather system

They're easy to work on, unlikely to properly let you down and most of the common failure items don't cost a fortune to replace

My old man is potentially looking to order a brand new 125i M Sport. We'll be test driving one along with the Prince engined 120i at the weekend.

I need to have a chat with him to see what equipment is offered as standard and what options he's planning on taking - all he's mentioned so far is leather and the 4 year service plan. At this point, I'm unsure if the service plan includes "major" service items of whether it's just a bog standard oil change and check over?

I'm not really sure what I can offer him in the way of advice, but if anyone has any thoughts I would be happy to listen.

Thanks :)
