yes, and its no longer 230-240v in the UK anymore, it's called nominal voltage which If i remember correctly is as low as 217v to 244v at the top end, to try and bring us in line with Europe.

Aye and also watch the ampage in the premises you are residing in, you might find they are on 3 or 5 amp for the room/building.
If so don't have your straighteners on when your a/c is going.

OP the straighteners will work fine, pack an adaptor but in most of the hotels I stayed they had weird multi plug sockets which any plug could fit.

Technically it's 230v in the uk, in reality nothing has changed you'll get near enough 240v at your meter and unless you live on a very new build it won't for a looonngg time, most electrical infrastructure is rather old. Still all the new signage is 230/400v for LV because EU.
