Rip them out and then lather the area with weed killer.

Tell her you have found a safe method, but actually just use weedkiller. Its not like she is going to do forensics on it, just don't leave the bottle or receipt out . . . .

If... you can circumvent SWMBO, something like Tumbleweed which also nukes the roots will prolong the interval before they resprout.
