That's E46 M3 CS money. That will hold and/or go up in value.

The most over-rated and over-priced M car out there. It's a slightly better M3, not a CSL, yet the values of them are getting insane and representing an ever bigger disconnect between M3 and M3 CS for no good reason. It's virtually the same car!

Looking at some of the other cars, I can't help think he probably does get some mug paying a premium..

This E46 M3 Convertible made me laugh: https://hexagonclassics.com/cars/bmw-m3-convertible-e46-manual/

£25K??? and looking at the interior pics, it's not in great shape, the trim near the handbrake is mullered and the drivers bolster quite worn..

Haha, if that is the condition £25k fetches you at hexagon, then I'd love to sell them my car. Might be a properly repaired Cat D, but I'd surely get solid coin for it given their markup.

People who pay outrageously stupid money for cars like this do not buy 90k Cat D examples - notice that car has only 26k on it :p

Shop around? Various "specialist" insurers out there, but most get the usual poor customer service feedback on forums and the like.

I personally use Elephant, been with them for years and they seem to always provide the best quote after haggling post-renewal letter arrival and comparison site mash-up. Plus their customer service has always been good for me as well as the ease of use of their online portal to access my documentation.

Cheapest so far between Go Compare and Compare The Market is Admiral at £889.14 for a full year.

Awaiting a quote from Adrian Flux now.

Out of interest - how much is a reasonable/average E46 M3 Coupe these days?

Prices seem to be increasing substantially.

If you can find a good low mileage car that hasn't been messed with, has had all the must have work done on it and well maintained, it is still a car that will hold its own and still looks fantastic.

So after placing my order with BMW back in September 15 i finally collected my car on Monday and couldn't be more pleased. On a completely different level to my M135i which was a good car but just too much of an "all rounder" which to me left it pretty boring after the first years ownership.

Seriously considering having the car treated with Gtechniq serum light, has anyone else had this treatment as I've heard some pretty good things about it?

Very nice Sam, very nice!

I know what you mean about the M135i being soft in comparison, but it only really shows itself up on track in my personal opinion, you just can't go fast enough on the roads for it to be an issue.

I've not driven th M2 yet, but I bet it's a hoot! Enjoy it!

I have to say i completely disagree and i don't see how you can make an opinion without driving both cars.

A car is all about how it makes you feel, look, feel, sound, handling etc - the M2 blows my M135i out of the water for each and every one of these points. The M135i is a good car and there is no doubt about that but to think the M2 is just a slightly quicker version that you would only notice the difference on track is in my opinion completely wrong.

I did over 450+ miles on the Nurburgring in my M135i over the last 3 years and a track day @ Beford (where incidentally i blew the engine, DOH) so i'm in a good position to pass judgement. Not tracked the M2 yet obviously so its impossible to comment track v track but road v road and the difference in the cars is very noticeable :)

Exactly the same was said about the 435 vs m4 it's worlds apart and you don't need to be doing silly speed to notice the difference in handling amongst the other things you mentioned. Glad you're enjoying the m2. You coming to the southern meet?

Agree exactly, its very easy for someone with a 435 to look at statistics and draw a comparison but truth be told the majority wouldn't have even driven the cars back to back. I actually took out an M2 for an hour around 8 weeks ago with a chap from BMW HQ, i was worried it would be too similar to my M135i but as soon as i started the car and drove down the road that had gone.

Where is it and when? could be tempted ...

OK, my friend (who I mentioned in the Audi thread) is now erring towards an F10 5 series. The budget seems to get a reasonable mileage 520D auto from 2011 and sensible mileage, with pro media and Xenons. Unfortunately not low enough mileage to get a cheap warranty but he wouldnt buy one anyway - thinks they're all a con.

Talk to me about the timing chain issue though - how significant is the risk, and anyway to mitigate against it?
