Or just getting a barcode ripping it off the reel and binning it.....

I rang RM and quoted the tracking code I have been given....RM said they couldn't find the code....

Hence it has never been scanned and likely just been kept or destroyed....

If a code has never been scanned then why did RM say they would provide compensation regardless of whether they know where the item is or not?

doesnt it flag up as a barcode unused?

Didn't you check the tracking code before sending the money, or did you just take it on faith that it was correct?

Like all my deals....I base things on trust

This is the first time ...it's gone bad...but I remain optimistic ....

I only ask for item first before payment based on a very Low or zero feedback score....

I've been buying and selling on forums for years....check my trust here on overclockers....

Deals on MM I just send the money...and people post....if I sell people send me money then I post and email them tracking...

In fact I've even sent items before payment in MM ...say the person can't pay until the evening and I can go to the post office in the afternoon...

I've also received items next day from MM when I paid on the night but got the item next day...meaning the person sent before I paid....

It's what makes the MM community so great....

If the Barcode does not show in our systems its because its never been scanned. So nothing has actually ever been sent. To use a special delivery Barcode they have to be linked to a customer or address when accepted.

If the fraudster has grabbed a Barcode from the reel and told you it's linked to the item when in fact it isn't then there is your proof.. It won't be anywhere in our systems and that is the proof that we never accepted anything and nothing has been sent to you.

edit: read your post again sorry its late and im in bed! If the above has happened to you and rm has said they will refund you then this is crazy and either en error by the customer service member or a big over sight of the company.

Having the rolls out like that leads to risk of someone ripping people off

For instance :

Someone sells expensive item on forum/ebay and takes note of some of these sticker tracking numbers.
Seller gives buyer the tracking number and it dosent work, and obviously item dosent turn up
Buyer raise paypal claim on basis of non receipt.
In the meantime the actual sticker has been used at the post office by someone else
Seller gives tracking number to paypal with signature and wins case
Buyer is without product and money

Paypal will also ask the seller to upload the receipt with the tracking # and the address of the buyer printed on the receipt.

Reading the replies over at avforums hes obviously stalling for time as its a payday loan type of thing.

First hes away all weekend, now he cant access his cash as hes got no id. Well, my work collegue was burgled last week and they took all her cards and id as it was in her bag. She still got cash out by taking letters with her name and address.

He must have something with his new address on, tenency agreement?

And the fact he wont provide the postage receipt screams out scam.

Time to report to action fraud I rthink mate and start a claim online at moneyclaim

At what stage do you get the tracking reciept proof of delivery reciept?

Is this printed when you pass the item to the kiosk cashier?

So you go self serve, get the label, stic it on the box, input the destination address...pay...

You get a payment reciept....

Then you take the item to the kiosk staff who scan it then print off a proof of postage reciept?

Or just use the online service to get prepaid codes. Yeah you have to pay for them but if defrauding £££ it would be worth it.

On a side note, these machines are the WORST self service machines in existence. Tried using them twice and they are horrendous. I love self service stuff but these are ones I avoid like the plague.

Also yes, seems very insecure having all the tracking labels out. Should be treated like stamps.

Yep, these are like an Alpha product, utterly crazy and badly designed. The main post office in Manchester has these. Ever since they were installed I have avoided it...

Seller doesn't win automatically for just showing a random tracking number.

You wouldn't even need to steal someone else's tracking number to do that. Just post a letter to yourself.

Ebay will actually investigate whether it has been delivered correctly.
