Ok, so I heard this being discussed on a podcast and thought it would make for a bit of light hearted entertainment.

The premise is this: what is the most impressive thing you've done which no one has been around to witness? We've all been there... you're with friends and you're just average Joe but they turn their back and you perform the impossible.

Perhaps you dropped something and caught it with one hand, or fluked a long shot or even just nailed an unrepeatable moment. No one believes your epic tale and you cannot convince them otherwise.

I remember once trying to kick a football across a basketball court with my brother. We must have spent hours trying but got nowhere near getting it in the basket. Anyway, he ran next door to get his ball and no sooner had I nailed it. WHOOSH.... nothing but net. He still doesn't believe me :D

Drinking and playing pool in Phat Larry's on Far Gosford Street in Coventry, circa 2003. Mate's girlfriend squeezing between two tables, her arse/coat pushes a 3/4 full pint of lager off the table. Like something out of the matrix, I lunge forward in my seat, and catch the glass clapped between my two hands, cushioning it so that the base just kisses the floor and nary a drop was spilled.

No-one saw it, they just noticed me spazzing about on my chair clasping my hands around my mate's drink.

Working in the clubs I was stocking a shelf with some ludicrously expensive champagne (£1200 a bottle £900 retail). Shelf collapses and I manage somehow to save all 9 bottles that fell in a flurry of hands and body slamming a bottle against the fridge door.

Looked around for some kind of acknowledgement to my disappointment :(.

I recently removed a capacitor from a dud motherboard and soldered it into a faulty one and alas it worked, was pleased with that as was not expecting it to work. Still works months later on.

In acme's chair.
I have one I guess, I once hand-brake turned into a parallel space between a bin and a parked car in my Polo.

If it were Burnout Paradise I would have got an achievement for perfect parking. :p

A couple of years ago I was suitably ****ed in a pub in Chiswick. I walked down to Tesco to buy some cigarettes and left my mates at the bar. I spent the next 25 minutes drunkenly helping to deliver a baby in the back seat of a parked car before heading back to the pub and everyone questioning where I'd been. No one believed me until I showed them the blood on my hands!

This one needs more explaining. Are you medically trained? Did you know the person? D o you asked to deliver babies often in cars?

Two grouse with two shots on a walking days grouse shooting on a local moore. Several years ago, i was using a pair of german short haired pointers, let them out hundreds of yards whereas my friends were using springer spaniels which had to be kept within 40 yards. A more relaxed form of game shooting.

Couldn't help but think of that scene in Total Recall when Arnie shows Sharon Stone the blood on his hands after killing some dudes :D

OP
Just remembered another...

I was at mr brother's wedding and they had one of those pseudo casinos with a blackjack table. I'd had a few so was talking to someone and watching people play. Anyway, the dealer asked if I wanted to play and I told him I was "banned in Vegas for card counting" to which he gave the roll eyes.

I sat down and was dealt 10 and 5 to which I "twist".... 6 came out. Total fluke but no one else believes me :(

A long time ago I was sitting on a sofa and my mate threw his Nokia at my balls (can't do that these days in case they break). It wasn't a lob, it was a proper end over end throw. I just swung my hand out and caught it perfectly facing the right direction. It was like a mountain dew commercial but at higher speed. The perfect catch. I might as well have caught a bullet with my teeth.

Never been able to explain or repeat it in front of anyone else.

When I was about 14/15 I used to go skateboarding quite a lot with my friends.

Anyway, on this particular day we found a set of stairs to Ollie down. I tried and tried and tried and just couldn't do it (all my friends did it within a couple of goes). When the time came to move on to another spot, my friends were all walking off and I thought I'd give it once last shot. With all my friends backs turned I ollied down the stairs perfectly...was anyone there to see it?
No, no they weren't!

On more than one occasion I've got in the car singing a tune and when the engine starts the radio is playing the same song on the same bit.

Nobody is ever there to witness the event :(

Nearly killed myself fiddling in the back of a valve powered TV when it was live. Blew up a 13amp socket on a lab bench when I showed two large pins stuck in the live and neutral sockets. The flash and bang were awesome. Got knocked out by hitting the crossbar of a door frame. The less said about that one the better.

I could go on but I won't. :p

A few years back a friend was going through a terrible time at both work and home (including being a victim of rape). She confided in me and I helped her as much as I could with advice and just being there to talk to when she needed it. She told me recently that being able to lean on me had stopped her committing suicide several times (it wasn't idle talk and she meant it). Because of it being such a sensitive issue and knowing a simar group of friends I've obviously never told anyone.
