More power needed?

Hey guys,

Just picked my wife up a 1060GTX 6gb for her PC as the old 650GTX was really struggling with most games she plays.

Slapped the new card in and powered the PC up, the fans spin for a second or two then stop with no posting.

Tried the card in my PC and its fine so its got to be something with hers.

She only has a fairly old (non modular) 500W cooler master PSU, i5 CPU and 3 HDD's so not too much power being demanded.

I've made sure the PCI-E cable is connected so the card should have enough power.

Any ideas?

It might be that there isn't enough power coming from the 12V rail of that PSU.

Try using the PSU from your PC in hers, and if it boots then it only needs a new PSU but if it doesn't then there's something else wrong.

Good shout. At least it will rule it out :)

Tried it with my PSU (OCZ 1250W) and the same thing happens, no posting and the GPU fans shut off after a few seconds.
