Hi guys,
The gf and I are looking to book our last holiday before we start trying for kids and these kind of holidays become a long and distant memory
We both fancy Thailand, but wondered if any of you have traveled there recently and can say if the mourning of their king is creating any limitations on what tourists can get up to?
The plan is to do a week exploring beaches and doing cultural stuff and then a week chilling in a hotel, sometime in February. We're not exactly party animals so don't plan on getting hammered in bars every night, but would be good to know what the current state of play is.
I see that a lot of hotels out there are just B&B basis. We generally travel to AI hotels so are a bit out of touch; how do evening meals generally work out there? Do people eat in the hotel restaurants or head out into the local towns for meals?
Lastly, where do people recommend heading for? I'd say we're looking more for gorgeous beaches than temples etc, but I'd like to go and see at least some of the culture, so easy access to both would be good. Normally we'd stay in one hotel and head out on day-trip excursions but want to get away from that so much this time.
Thanks for any advice you can give us,
Andy
