I think everyone knows that, the point is that like most cars of this nature the dealer would have been better off chucking it in the auction.

I told them that when I went to pick it up, I said I would have stuck it in an auction! Their view was you win some, you lose some, it's part of being in business.

So, 8 months on and it is still going well.

I changed the tyres (to non-runflats) as one of the fronts had a bulge in it, I've got to fit a new washer fluid pump as the front I think has failed and I am replacing a front brake pad sensor as it is suggesting the pad has worn (it hasn't). But other than that it is doing ok.

My new garage is getting close to being watertight so the VX is being retrieved from my parent's garage, will have a few issues ironed out and should be back ready for the better weather next spring.

Still hankering after a Cayenne Turbo so may replace the Mondeo (which has been a great buy).

On borrowed time :p

Both of my cars are on borrowed time! I think the Cayenne will be coming fairly early in the new year now, the problem is I don't have the time at the moment to look for one, I'm too busy building this!

I was thinking that I've had to do a few things to mine in recent months, but.. nope. Still going strong then OP. Once the parts have been replaced.

That dealership has quite an eclectic set of cars. The "GT3 Z4" is something else, although the supercharged MR2 (AW11) is something else. Exactly the same colour as the one I had back on Gran Turismo. Need for nostalgic reasons.

my old E60, which saw 160k before the timing chain went pop (and had nothing else major mechanically bad), was seen on the streets of dorset recently ploughing around as if nothing was wrong with it.

I need to change the exhaust manifold on my parents old E60 as it has cracked which is a well known issue. It is not a job I really want to be doing at this time of year with the rain we have had recently.

He didn't say it cost him anything, he said no faults. Which clearly isn't the case. :p

About £900 of the £1.8k they spent on it was before I even picked the car up and the rest was within a few days of owning it, for which the dealer picked up the tab.

I replaced two airbags at a cost of about £40, a few bulbs and had a suspension spring crack when my wife hit a pothole. Oh and the idrive screen failed and started smoking which cost me £26 to replace.
