I think they're seriously deluded about what could have been done for their child.

Its denial, they have lost their baby so its not surprising really, to me anyway.

What I do find sad is that they have lost a great deal of the little time they had with the baby due to courts, media and other BS that really didn't need to happen.

Its not only denial but what i would class as victimization (sorry if that is not the right term) they feel that they are victims of health care system and the judicial system and the troupe of supporters behind them feel the parents are victims too. Its why even yesterday the mother was shouting out in court "I hope you are all proud of yourselves" even though both parents have admitted its the only practical solution.

Then again they are parents who are about to loose a child, no matter whether you think their actions are right or wrong its all rather sad.

How are they victims of the health care system?

It wasnt thiers or anyone elses fault that he child had the condition. It is however the parents/media fault for dragging it out so long and wasting the nhs's already limited budget on litigation for a lost cause.

How many of these cases happen every day where a child is born with an uncurable ilness and the decision is taken by all involved with professional advice to "switch off the machine" or to let the child go. Just because these tards decided to try and force the issuue its been dragged out for all this time.

they aren't the victims of the health care system. you, me and anyone else with half a rational brain knows that. they however are grieving/in pain and likely in turmoil given the all the bs that has gone on.

want to call someone a tard? look to the crooked US doctor(s) who fed the family false hope. there's you 'tards'

I imagine I would look under every rock, grasp at every 'internet miracle cure' for an iota of hope to cling to had I been their situation, as such I still think they deserve a degree of sympathy

Somehow they thought by getting a load of cash someone would be able to fix the lad. Doable for some conditions but when the docs say you have brain damage and is way past you having any sort of decent life then your times up. Seems to me that they are listening to twitter more than some specialist hospital with some of the most qualified docs we have

Nah, after a while it was apparent that he would never recover regardless of how much money they threw at anyone, but you know, a good old sob story is good for the bank account.

I wonder if now Charlie doesn't need that money will they refund it back to all those generous donators? I mean they certainly haven't taken down the donation links. Or maybe they will donate it to a childrens charity so other parents don't have to go through the same as what they did? Or you know, maybe just splash out on a bigger house and a cruise, because why not?

perhaps they could donate it to the hospital after all the time, money and resources they've wasted in dragging this on

It doesn't state anything, the character bears no resemblance to anyone and McCann is a common surname. So no.

That's a bit like the old Private Eye "There is no truth whatsoever in the allegation that....." thing.

I would be perfectly willing to accept an argument, as a juror, that since we all know who, and what, it is referring to is sufficient to mean that that is who and what it is referring to..

After all, Oscar Wilde was never actually accused of Sodomy by Queensbury (The quote was "For Oscar Wilde, posing somdomite" )

(Of course, in this case, Wilde should have shrugged it off with a choice piece of acerbic wit, After all, everybody who mattered already knew and few of them really cared. You do not sue for defamation if the allegation is true! unfortunately, like "Celebs" today, his arrogance got the better of him)
