slightly off track - but - have the folks leaving GB Energy also considered Iresa ?

since mid July they are now taking customers again after stopping mid April, they list reasonable rates e11.445,13.997 g 2.715,15.666
is it irresponsible (but mandatory ?) that the energy sites (switch.which) list them without any caveats.

Considered them, but then crossed them off the list after viewing the feedback and issues on the MSE 'Cheap Energy Club' and forums. I've gone with Avro, which is very little difference in price, but seems to have much better service feedback. As with all of the new/small suppliers it's a bit of a lottery though...

Thanks: a couple of more general remarks

* when transferring, is initiating transfer via one of the online compare sites, more efficient/effective/traceable than just contacting new supplier
(I have used online, but father needs to transfer, and dislikes using internet)

* Energy comparison sites (switch.which) base current p/m cost, on 12month average with run-out of existing plan followed by std plan, this gives an unrealistic current charge (since would continue with a lower charge plan at existing vendor if you stayed.)
There does not appear to be any way to get a realistic current charge, so although new plan charges are accurate, savings are not.
This must be a common criticism ... seems daft you cannot just load it all into excel.

why are you all switching from GB energy to Bulb?

This is what GB energy offered me to stay (and £150 loyalty payment on top too)

My deal was all done via their website, I was on 9p a unit for electric though prior to this. Maybe they consider what the previous deal was?

I also know that different postcodes can have different pricing with suppliers - not really understood why that is though.

How odd - I also put the details in as a new customer and used a different house number (but my postcode), I got pricing that is much higher than they have given me. All in all I'm happy then.

Depending on what network area you are in you get a higher charge for network distribution. This can vary from provider to provider as how they supply the network affects this cost as well as local network charges.

Example of co-op energy you can see the different prices in the different regions on a single tariff. Ranging from 11.77p in London to 14.91p in the South West.

Nice of them to split Cheshire away from the rest of the north west and then charge us more!

Noticed that British gas are now doing fixed price until 2010 e16.35/18.9 g3.329/26.25,
OK unit of electricity is expensive, but does anyone think this might pay off long term ? in a similar fashion to having locked into a longer term deal pre-brexit vote may have been wise ?
[unable to find much information on energy futures]

Yup - I was offered the £150 too but it was still a lot cheaper to go elsewhere.
Are these offers based on some lock-in and also a known high usage level (they are not going to hand that out if you pay £50 p/m ?)

without the bonus, the likes of npower have e11.897/24.675 which is less than £15p/a difference vs GB (if I got my excel right)
