For me, it is only recently that consoles have been of interest.
I had the "pong clone" as a kid, my first real console being a Master System which I loved - played all the classic arcade games of the time, Space Harrier, Outrun etc.
That was the last console I owned until a PS3 and then more recently PS4.

I moved away from the Master System to an Amiga and from the Amiga to PC gaming exclusively, before the PS3 was purchased initially as a Blu-Ray player only (it was the only Blu-Ray player on the market that got regular software upgrades).

I'm still not "into consoles" in a major way.
Really enjoying the PS4, but I don't keep looking on the horizon for what is next.

Spectrum
Amstrad 64
Gameboy original
Nintendo
Master system
Atari
Super Nintendo
Mega drive
Mega Drive 32X (uurrgghh)
Amiga 500+
N64
Playstation 1
Pc
Playstation 2
Gameboy Colour (just a retro throwback)
Nintendo DS
PSP
Pc
Playstation 3
Wii
Xbox 360
Playstation Vita
Nintendo 3DS
Pc
Wii U
Xbox One
Various mobile and tablets, but I don't count any of those in my gaming history. sorry for adding pc, but I had Amstrad, possibly Atari and Spectrum which already blurred the line between pc and console.

I gave a niggling feeling that I've missed a couple older systems.

Okay, so if we are talking consoles I owned myself, the order would be:

N64
Dreamcast
Xbox
PS3
X360
PS4

If we are talking the consoles that was in the family home as well as mine, this list won't be in order:

NES
SNES
Sega Saturn
MegaDrive
PlayStation 1,2,3,4
Xbox, X360
N64
Dreamcast
Gamecube
Wii

Various handheld from Nintendo, GameGear, PlayStation Vita.

I might have missed a few that I can't remember at this moment.

For consoles that I actually owned and not ones I just had access to...

PS1
N64
PS2
Gamecube
Dreamcast
PS3
X360
PS4
Switch

Handhelds

Gameboy - The Brick
Gameboy pocket
Gameboy colour
Gameboy advance
Nintendo DS
PSP
PSPGo
New Nintendo 3DS

But in the house growing up also had access to

NES
Snes
Wii
Sega Mega Drive
Sega Master System
Sega Saturn
Sega Gamegear (we wern't rich enough to use it as a handheld so it had to be no more than 5' away from a wall)
Xbox

I tend to just use consoles as gravy these days. I would've stopped with the PS3/360 generation but I wanted Destiny bad.

Is the Amiga and spectrum zx classed as consoles?
Dreamcast
XBOX
XBOX 360 - now passed onto my son, like the matrix was passed to hotrod.
PSP
Wii
PS4
Snes mini (preordered)

I dint really need to buy consoles back in the day... because everyone else had them:
Brother/dads friend had an atari.. remember playing Pong, qbert, star wars etc
Best friends/Cousins had PS1/2/3, Gamecube, n64, megadrive, nes, snes, vectrex. Fond memories of gaming get-together's indeed.

Rough Order:

NES
Master System
Megadrive
Gameboy
Atari Lynx
Game Gear (sold it after 3 weeks, didn't get on with it)
SNES
Gamebody pocket
Gameboy colour
N64
Gameboy Advance (Day 1 Japanese import)
Gamecube (Wind waker edition)
XBox 360 (gave it away because I had small children)
Gameboy Micro
Nintendo Wii
Wii U
3ds
PS4
3ds XL
New 3ds
Backlit Gameboy Advance (AGS-101 mod)
Switch (still in the box, trying to resist opening it up before Xmas)

Got several different styles of gameboy stashed away in shoeboxes, Love the design of them so if they are in ok nick I usually buy them when I see them on car boots, charity shops etc. Would love to get another Atari Lynx at some point.

I've always thought of myself as a gamer but I probably invested more time in systems rather than going through a lot of different platforms.

Bingo TVG-203
ZX Spectrum 48k
ZX Spectrum 128k
Sega Mastersystem
Amiga 500
Playstation
Dreamcast
Playstation 2
PSP
XBOX (Original)
DS
GBA AGS 101

I still use my PS2, PSP, DS and GBA and never felt the need to update beyond the PS2 generation (because PS2>All), and given my PC is an antique as well (just over 7 years) I think maybe I classify as a retro gamer myself!

Xbox One S

I have played on PC in between that's why there's no PS2.

I don't know why I kept buying hand held as I quickly got tired of them!
