Are Harvey's still the best softeners? If so, what can I expect in terms of pricing and are they squeezable on their numbers or is it fixed?

Or if there is another alternative that I should be looking at, do tell.

Right then...

Basically, Harvey's covers a range of brands of the non-electric softeners including TwinTec, Harvey's, etc with are all effectively the same unit. Kinetic I think is another brand that does non-electric.

If you aren't up during the night and have easy access to electric then I would always recommend Tapaworks. They're much cheaper than non-electric. If you don't then go non-electric but a refurbished model (old plastic case, new internals). Then pay a plumber to come and fit. If you go with one of Harvey's new then you'll be paying £1.5k including installation. It's a giant monopoly and none of the installers will undercut their rivals.

Non-electric tend to use block salt which is more expensive.

I went for the refurb route yesterday and it cost £950 all in.

Do the electric models support high pressure systems and on demand softened water?

I have a standard Harvey's twin tank purely because i have a high pressure system.

No idea sorry. Mine was in a two bed with combi boiler from mains pressure. It was certainly high pressure!

Surprisingly, Harvey's are coming in around £1.5k with some bits and pieces thrown in for good measure. Nothing they wouldn't offer most prospective customers, I'd imagine.

Where should I look for a refurbished model? I'd rather go on recommendation than just a Google.

eBay. Some engineers now specialise in refurbs too. Where do you live? If it is anywhere near Reading I can give you the name of the bloke who done mine.

Thanks @Kemik - have been in touch with Danny. Twintec S3 the one you went for?

If you want me to pass your details on, so he knows who recommended him, drop me a Trust.
