Expect the £419.99 launch pricing to be short lived (approx 1-2 weeks) and other brands such as MSI and EVGA shall be introduced over next few days. :)

my guess is that NVidia made them to cover off the vega 56, then when the pricing and availability on those went haywire, NVidia was like
¯\_(ツ)_/¯, may as well release these anyway.

I just don't get this release, not for these prices anyway. What I really don't like is that they expect people to buy a product on pre-order when there are no reviews for another week. How on earth is anybody supposed to know how they perform (don't say between a 1070 and a 1080)? If I remember right the Ryzen launch was the same and I hope that launching a product before any reviews are allowed isn't going to be the way things are going to go.

This would only make sense (at a stretch!) if they reduced the price of the 1070/1060 and at a push the 1050, and slotted this in between the 1070 and 1080

But let's be honest... that isn't going to happen

Bizarre!

As others have said, the pricing seems pretty high for these, especially the Strix and the like.
On top of that, is there really a need for the product at all? Is there a big enough gap between the 1070 and 1080 to need this?

If this was a replacement for the 1070 at a more 1070 like price then fine, but I don't get this.
