2002 Seat Leon Cupra 4. Overpaid because I was a naive young idiot thinking the 4wd made the car a unicorn. Lost a shedload on repairs and depreciation. Was brilliant for the year I spent in Norway though :)

1981 Austin Allegro 1.3 HL. I got it in 1990 so wasn't that old but was quite the banger. It had plenty of rust problems, sills, floor, doors, boot.

Had it for quite a few years before the exhaust system fell off.

'Upgraded' to a Mini Metro 1.0L.

And there was me thinking I was the only nutcase with an allegro as first car:D HL? Posh :p Although I did put an "HLS Pack" on mine (aka all the good bits off a scrapper).

Had one of these as my second car in 1982 (1975 model) purchased from another Northampton backstreet dealer after demise of the Escort (as mentioned earlier). Quite the most awful car I ever owned - spent more on repairs than the original purchase price at a time of my life I could ill afford those sort of costs. Had a new clutch/flywheel and fuel tank which had rusted through, amongst other things. The last car I ever purchased from a dodgy dealer...

Ha ha mine did that - first time I filled it up it wee'd petrol all over the forecourt. Took it back to the place I got it from and they swapped the tank from another one.

Scrapped due to terminal chassis rust:-

Donated it's guts to this, which I still have :-

So, effectively, I still have (most of) the first car I got 19 years ago.

1986 VW Polo bought in 2001. First time I filled it up was at the time of the fuel protests. Got a phone call from my sister a bit later saying it was leaking petrol all over the drive. Thing had a hole in the petrol tank, had to get a second hand one fitted.

I had a 1996 Fiat Cinquecento with an 899cc engine and 39bhp. Bought it for £200 when I was learning to drive in 2005, sold it for £200 a year or so later. Did me proud, that thing. Looks like it died sometime in 2012 :(

Around about the time the Inbetweeners became popular iirc. Coincidence? I think not.

Peugeot 306 1.4L 1993, I think I passed my test in 2003.

What a dreadful car, it had solid front disks so stopping from anything above 40mph was erm interesting, it got written off within 3 months and replaced with a 1.6L from the same year.

1987 VW Golf 1.8 16v bought in 1994. Loved that car. It was pretty reliable and went very nicely after work on the head and a free flow exhaust. Got it to about 115kw.

Sold onto my younger brother after three years where it served him for a further three years until he was carjacked.
