I have the following setup and want to upgrade to 2560 x 1440 gaming - just now I only run at 1920 x 1080 on a Sapphire 11199-16-20G AMD Radeon HD 7870 Dual-X 2GB GDDR5 Graphics Card.

I bought this bundle from OCUK in 2013:
Quasar 215i" Intel Core i7 4770K @ 4.2GHz Overclocked Haswell Gaming PC Bundle

MB - Gigabyte Z87-HD3

CPU - Core i7-4770K at 4.7GHz
PSU - Corsair RM Series RM 750 '80+ Gold' 750W Power Supply (CP-9020055-UK)

Can I add a GeForce card to this setup and a new monitor and run titles on highest settings at 2560 x 1440 resolution?

Thank you in advance.

I ran a 1070 with a 1440p 144hz gsync screen. Games ran great, didn't get the full 144hz at highest settings unless playing low demanding games. But was fine either way, since upgraded to a 1080ti and even then in some games at highest settings it can't hit 144hz

@lee32uk I'm not sure - there is various differing opinions on what monitor type to go with - but I reckon G-Sync would be the preferred - what's your experience?

Roberto

I have no experience of G-Sync as I only have a 60Hz 1080p screen myself. Most people who have gone with G-Sync though say it is like night and day. Even things like moving the mouse is smoother on a high refresh rate screen. And of course if you play a lot of FPS then it is also good to have a high refresh rate and response time.

I would say for the GPU you want a GTX 1070/ti minimum for 1440p/165Hz. Obviously if you want to push the framerates then try for a 1080 ti.
