Hey dudes

hope you all had a superb Christmas

Im looking at returning to PC gaming and have £2k to spend thanks to the power of cryptos

I have a 1080p monitor which ill be keeping (probably upgrade in the future) also have keyboard, mouse, speakers, headset and operating system.

Literally just after the tower. Looking to play all latest titles including PUBG.

I'm happy with on board LAN and on board sound from whatever mobo.

I would like to get the best possible performance for my 2k, even though im aware my monitor will let it down.

I should mention 2k is the absolute limit and I cannot go over this.

Cheers! :)

Hi

If you want the top end of your budget then something along these lines:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,968.87 (includes shipping: £0.00)

The 1080 ti is overkill though for a 1080p screen. If you plan to upgrade to 1440p in the future though then it will serve you well there.

Of course case choice is personal preference so you might want to choose something different.

If you wanted to save some money then you could go with an i5 8600K and a GTX 1070 etc.

Thank you chaps.

I was looking at this sourced from various places, would you rate the one above higher? I was thinking I could actually salvage my 1TB hdd from the PC im using currently

Corsair Carbide Air 540 High Airflow ATX Cube Case
Intel® Core™ i7-8700K Six Core OC 4.70 GHz 12MB Cache LGA1151
Cooler Master Seidon 240V High Performance Liquid Cooling system w/ 240mm Radiator
MSI Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon INTEL Z370 Chipset, ATX Mainboard
16GB (2x8GB) DDR4/3000mhz Dual Channel Memory Corsair Vengeance LPX w/Heat Spreader
GeForce® GTX 1080 Ti 11GB Video Card
Corsair 750 Watts CX750 Gaming Power Supply, 80+
250GB (1x250GB) Samsung 960 EVO M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD - 3200MB/s Read & 1500MB/s Write

thanks very much for your time

If you like the air 540 then maybe consider the newer Air 740 as well if you like the aesthetics. The 540 is getting on a bit now.

You want as much cooling power as you can get for the 8700K as it runs hot. A 280mm should perform better than a 240mm because of the larger radiator.

What make/model is that 1080 ti gpu ?

The Seasonic Focus Gold in my spec is a far better power supply than the Corsair CX.

The Samsung 960 EVO is very fast but you probably won't notice a difference over the 850 EVO in day to day usage. I would take 500GB over a smaller NVMe myself.

Im liking the idea of it being built already so I have no issues, and being overclocked also..

Looks alright for the money. I'd ask about which PSU and motherboard. If you're going to spend a fair bit, make sure the motherboard has the features you want/need, and that the PSU is a good one.

Not for 1080p that's for sure. Both are overkill.

I'd build it myself to be honest. Something like the Enthoo Pro M is easy to build in. You could get a 360mm AIO, a PSU with 10-year warranty, a Crucial MX300 1TB SSD for £205 (look around) and an EVGA FTW3 iCX GTX 1080Ti for £735.99 (look around) plus the rest below for a total of £1,978.93:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,037.94 (includes shipping: £0.00)

And then fork out £20 to add two more years of warranty to the EVGA card, for more reassurance. And still stay under £2000 (just).

Using the nice list above, could save money on using i5 8600k ... New hex cores from Intel are finally a treat !
If gtx 1080 Ti is a bit overkill and pricy for you. Gtx 1080 11gbps and not standard 10gbps can be found for £515 mark :)

Built rig for a friend using 8400 and can't bottle neck the thing with a Ti at 1080p :D
But they have shot up from £170 to £220 :/
