Hello everyone.

I am building a rig that will be used for gaming (recording the games), and video editing.
So i wanted to know what i should get:

Option one -
Core i3-8100 with a 1060 6GB

Option Two -
Core i5-8400 with a 1050 or 1050ti either 2 or 4 GB

Both will be on an asrock Pro4 with 8GB of Ram which will be upgraded to 16GB

Thank you for any help.

If you are running at 1920x1080 and want to stream and play at the same time then I would suggest i5 and also 1060 6Gb. Some of the new games are now using more than 8Gb RAM like COD:WW2 can use upto 13Gb RAM so moving to 16Gb is good.

If you are budget restricted then i would go with the spec i suggested if you can spend a little more on the GPU. I would recommend upto 32Gb RAM if you are going to be doing a lot of video editing.

Also what are you using for your scratch drive. Something like an SSD would be good to help with streaming and recording performance.

@Zotec

Editing, i5 8400 hands down. If more gaming based then 8100 with gtx 1060.

Middle ground ....

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £454.47 (includes shipping: £10.50)

Performs equal or just under i5 8400 for gaming 1080p and will beat Intel for video editing

Works out cost wise bang in-between the two !

Should be able to squeeze 3 or 6gn gtx 1060 or 4GB RX580

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,021.06 (includes shipping: £11.10)
