Hi guys

I have a 2GB AMD 7850 and recently upgraded my CPU to a R5 1600 so looking at upgrading the GPU too. I dont play many of the newest titles (usually play games like BF4, Siege etc) and only have a 1080p60 display so dont need the worlds best GPU (or have the budget for it :) )

Would the upgrade to a 4GB 1050Ti be a decent upgrade over my current GPU? or any other suggestions very close to the £150 budget?

Thanks

1050Ti is over priced unless you can pick one up for £120 a 1060 3Gb would be the better option they have been selling for £159 new but S/H around the £125 mark. I would go S/H with the newer cards most of them are only going to be a few months old (Gamers love to upgrade hardware.)

The 7850 is still a powerful card even in the 150 quid range. The mining seems to have pushed up used prices, but I'd look for an R9 290/290X/GTX980.

Well I did bite the bullet and get the 1050Ti on a little bit of an impulse buy as it was £140 delivered. I couldnt find any direct real world benchmarks between them except for those synthetic ones which dont always paint a real picture however the reviews for the 1050Ti showed an almost 60FPS on Ultra on games like BF1 whereas my 7850 wouldnt get close to that. I dont really have a budget for more than £150, probably should had held out for a 2nd hand card ideally, oh well.

Well on the plus side, it should use less power ;)

At the time of posting you can pick up a new Palit PCI-E GTX1050TI StormX 4 GB for £111 can not say who the seller is because of forum rules but it is very easy to find also there is a wait until 8-15 January.

Probably not much less as the 7850 is only about 90 watts. A little faster for a little less power plus you can put the 7850 on the MM and get some money back.

Yep best option at this time hope you got it for the £111.00 sold out now at that price.

Yeah, its arriving on Thurs now too. Its already been a good upgrade as I recently got a R5 1600. I ran through some 3DMark tests (first time since 2013, shows how long I've had the previous setup) and even with the same 7850 with the new R5 1600 @ stock vs the FX8320 @ 4.2Ghz, it smashes it by quite a margin. So hopefully the 1050Ti will improve that some more too.
