Thundercat - Drunk.
Somewhat of an acquired taste, but it's growing on me.

Nadine Shah - Holiday Destination.
6 music have played quite a bit of this and I like it so far. Might be one for my santa list.

Kamasi Washingon - Harmony of Difference.
More tingly jazz.

This is the Kit - Moonshine Freeze
I'm assuming these are new releases I keep hearing on the radio.

...thank you 6 music; I keep hearing great sounds I have to add to an ever growing memo list on my phone.

Oxbow - Thin Black Duke.
Incredible album, just love it, probably one of my favourites of the past few years, let alone 2017.

Pain of Salvation - In the Passing Light of Day.
Just brilliant prog metal.

Chelsea Wolfe - Hiss Spun.
Not my favourite of hers, but still great.

Idles - Brutalism.
Lovely stuff indeed :)

The National - Sleep Well Beast.
Their best since Alligator in my opinion.

Tyler, The Creator - Scum **** Flower Boy.
This along with...

Ho99o9 - United States of Horror.
Are my favourite hip-hop albums of the year!

Honourable mention to Baxter Dury's album 'Prince of Tears', and the song 'Miami'. Brilliant.

Late contender (as in I just found out it existed)

Fever Ray - Plunge

There's a new Fever Ray! I never thought we'd get another one. It's been like waiting for a new Tool album (well not quite that bad)

I've got nothing new this year... But unlike most old gits, I won't complain there is nothing good made any more just because it hasn't fell in to my lap. I know I've got to get out there and look for it. Thanks for the kick up the arse... :p

I've found a couple that I like..

Phoebe Bridgers - Strangers In The Alps
Sylvan Esso -What Now

The Bonobo album in the first post is pretty decent as well.

  • Arcade Fire - Everything Now
  • Childhood - Universal High
  • Cigarettes After Sex - Cigarettes After Sex
  • Elbow - Little Fiction
  • Everything Everything - A Fever Dream
  • Future Islands - The Far Field
  • Halsey - Hopeless Fountain Kingdom
  • The National - Sleep Well Beast
  • Queens of the Stone Age - Villains
  • The War on Drugs - A Deeper Understanding

I just can't understand how anyone enjoys what Calvin Harris makes. Everything he does is a few lines, about 15 seconds of beat and then stretched to four minutes. His stuff gets old before the first play has even finished.

Alt-J was a standout for me. Can't remember much else that was released last year where I listened to a dull album rather than a single/selection of songs.
