Been out of the loop for a long time, just looking for clarification that this should all work. Will be used for general office, media and some gaming:

Intel i5 8400 socket 1151
Asus prime z370-p socket 1151
Corsair vengence ddr4 2x8gb 2400mhz
GeForce GTX 680
Kingston 120gb + 480gb ssd
Corsair carbide 400c midi tower
Corsair rm650x psu

I think 650w is far too much really, but does anyone have any experience with this line of psu?

its fine...but if you have the option to change stuff (looks like a prebuilt/2nd hand?)
faster ram would help minimum framerates
gtx680 is getting a bit long in the tooth, but still decent
and you are right, 650w is too much, 550w is sufficient
corsair rmx series are decent, if overpriced. corsair tax unfortunately :)

what's your budget and what are you needing to upgrade. are you diy-ing the build?
perhaps one of us could help with the spec if you give us a budget? :)

Yeah definitely a diy job, I've done a few in the past.
Budget of £1000 including a 22" monitor, wireless keyboard and mouse. Mainly used for office work, audio production (sibelius) and gaming.

assuming the only thing you're reusing is your 680 and windows key...
of course if you can reuse ssd/hdd/psu etc, then more budget could be put to other parts/savings

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £916.12 (includes shipping: £15.30)

6c12t ryzen processor, 16gb ram
i know you said 22 inch monitor, but the 24 inch panel specced is ips and 75hz for £150. good vfm
