Hi All

I Have 2 old 200GB 2.5" 720rpm HDD from my old lap laptop and am looking to do some video editing

My question is this, do I get a couple of caddies and connect them via my USB 3.0 on my new laptop or just use the internal drive which is only 5400rpm?

Thanks

Which would be faster for video editing?
It depends on the quality of the bridging chip in the USB enclosure, but generally I'd go with the internal native SATA interface for speed and reliability, even with a slower RPM drive (especially if it's newer and larger). What you could do, though, is use one USB drive for the source material, and the internal HDD as the destination drive, so you get them both working concurrently when you're editing. You could use the second USB drive as a backup or for archiving the postprocessed stuff.

That said, upgrading your new laptop with a decent sized SSD would make your life much, much easier.
