Is there software needed for a M.2 ????

Hi all.

I just got myself a M.2 Samsung 960 Pro. This is my first M.2 drive and I wondering if there is any software drivers that I need. I can remember for a while some SSD’s needed IRST software. Is there any software like this that I should be installing with the new M.2 drive or is it simply plug it in and go.

Drivers are generally needed for the M2 slot in Windows 7. Normally detected automatically under Windows 10.

OK I have not done this but as far as I am aware there is no issue using it as a data drive because Windows will load the correct driver. That board though does not have a driver in it's BIOS so it can not be used as a boot drive. Obviously you need an adapter to plug it in. The adapter needs to be placed in the highest available graphics card socket.

Didn't need any software with my Samsung m2, plug and play.
