Is it definitely the pro you have? (6gb ram)

I've been looking at the Pro but there doesn't seem to be a global version (I.e. Channels, not the global rom.)

This is the problem i speak of

Redmi note 5
Redmi note 5 plus
Redmi note 5 pro

The pro comes in both 4gb and 6gb versions however it's much better species than the other 2 which also have 4gb versions and 3gb versions.

After a bit of checking, it turns out I actually have the Note 5 AI.
Apparently the latest version with better cameras and 'ai'.

So technically got a better version than I paid for, not bad.

I'm considering getting a Mi6X to replace my Mi5, but is it worth waiting for the MiA2, which I hear is the same phone but with Android One?

Ah OK, makes sense now. AI can be global or Chinese I think. I've been trying to work out if there is a pro 6gb outside of India but it doesn't seem so. Enjoy

Where did you get the Pro from, please? I'm looking around but can only find the normal note 5 (4gb ram, 64gb storage) in the global version. Cheers

I don't know why you would want to get the Note 5 Pro as it has less network bands which is only for the Indian market, you can get the global Note 5 6GB from eGlobal Central for £206.14.

That's what I meant in my badly posted message - I meant I wanted a 6gb note 5 but global version (not Indian), which I was struggling to find. Your link isn't working for me but will try again later as I'll definitely buy if its 6gb with global bands.

The Note 5 is the same as the Note 5 Pro (which is only for Indian market). You're after same phone as me. This is what I'm looking at.

If you're worried about frequencies then it says it supports B3:1800/B1:2100/B7:2600/B5:850/B8:900mhz

Common UK frequencies:

Three (3)
4G – 800/1800MHz

3G – 2100

T-Mobile, Orange, EE
4G – 800/1800/2600MHz

3G – 2100

O2 / Telefonica
4G – 800MHz

3G – 2100

Vodafone
4G – 800/2600MHz

3G – 2100

Giff Gaff
4G – 800MHz

3G – 2100

Tesco
4G – 800MHz

3G – 2100

BT
4G – 800/1800/2600MHz

3G – 2100

Virgin Mobile
4G – 800/1800/2600MHz

3G – 2100

TalkTalk Mobile
4G – 800/2600MHz

3G – 2100

Thanks for link. This is Chinese version with global rom. Looks like only. Band I'd be missing is 800 for 4g, not sure how big of a deal that is or not. Also, from the responses to questions it looks like some people received with China rom and had to flash themselves - I think this was your phone is sealed.

It looks like the eglobal shop has a global version (with 800 (b20) band) but it's out of stock in black, and I can't find it anywhere else - think I'll go for the 4gb for now. Should still last me a good year or 2.

Thanks all.

is 6gb making a difference over the 4gb version? is it worth the extra £50 odd?

current reviews compare both and there isn't any real difference when it comes to gaming etc, or even having multiple apps open at the moment. however, with apps updating themselves and getting more bloated. who knows about the future. the 6gb will probably be better. but by then you may want a new phone

So I may have been confusing myself above with the global rom Note 5 frequencies. It seems it does support B20:800 I just had to scroll down a bit rather than reading the product specs.

4G: FDD LTE B3:1800/B1:2100/B7:2600/B5:850/B8:900 /B4:1700/B20:800 MHz; TD LTE
B38:2600/B40:2300MHz

So based on that you don't need the official global version of the phone. The 4gb global rom Chinese version for around £160 should suffice.
