I've done most of the big Captials (Berlin, Rome, Madrid, Paris, Budapest, Prague etc) as 3-5 days "city breaks" and all of them have plenty to keep you entertained regardless of what sort of daytime/night-time entertainment you like.

Zagreb fantastic place and people, that 500 road trip in Scotland looks good though might consider it myself car needs a long run

Berlin is probably my favourite city. Perfect for a weekend trip.

That's what I did and got some dirt cheap flights to Switzerland, but once there it turned out to be the most expensive place I've ever been to!

That's what puts me off going skiing there!!

A Skyscanner search with Gatwick -> Anywhere is a great idea and may well be what I end up doing
