Just been up to the hospital bereavement suite to have a last chat and tell her I was really fortunate to have known and loved her.
I assume they apply makeup as she looked better today than she did last night and I was quite stunned how cold she was.

Was not going to go and see her but glad I did.

Well done for going as it isn't easy and condolences for your loss.

It's unlikely the hospital would apply make up but you'd be surprised how a few little tricks, lighting and brushing hair can improve people's appearance, especially compared to the harsh ward environment. She would have been cooling down after the event anyway but if they didn't explain that she would cold it's because she would be staying in a refrigerated environment. It can be a bit disarming if you aren't given the heads up, but it is the best thing we can do.

Just want you to understand those questions you are thinking from the experience.

My thoughts are with you and its a sad loss to hear.

Same thing happened to my nan was fine on Tuesday fell ill and had passed away by Sunday. Pneumonia and lung collapse kills fast and its awful.

Really sorry to hear about this Kronos. Couldn't agree more with about the NHS, they were nothing but exceptional in their support when my grandfather passed away.

Her right lung had collapsed and pneumonia had set in. How this came on so fast was a mystery as there was little on the chest x-ray of Sunday evening.
At least she did not die alone as her son, sister, granddaughter and myself were at her bedside.

I saw the true face of the NHS last night, professional but so caring from the student nurse to the intensive care consultant.
