utter bs. if the numbers they fantasize were true it would put it within range of a 2080..

I don't know, the figures in that Article look pretty ok to me. I was reckoning on it been around 10% faster than the 1080. Nvidia has never had any problem putting cards in range of higher priced cards, look at the 570, 580, the 670, 680 and the 780, first Titan are all examples of this.

I think it would look very bad for Nvidia if it comes in slower than the 1080.

I don't think it's going to be slower, I think it's going to be exactly a 1080 but priced like a 1080ti because it has RTX in front of its name rather than GTX.
The stated US price for the 2070 is $499 and $599 for FE version. But taking from the experience of the launch of the non-FE 1080Ti was pretty much the same as the FE card, we can just ignore the $499 Nvidia claims and use the $599 pricing as reference.

$599 in the UK after the VAT and the usual higher pricing Nvidia set for EU/UK together with price gouging, we can pretty much expecting the 2070 to launch at a minimum of £580 and average of £600+.

Basically, no-one can answer this question until we know what performance the 2070 offers.

Both cards will be a huge improvement. Obviously the 2070 is much more expensive. So....use the mushy thing in your skull and decide...:p

Why would a 2070 be 1070 performance thatmakes no sense.

Why would a 2080 Ti cost £1,200? That makes no sense.

Nothing about these cards makes sense. It's entirely possible that once you strip away the RTX tech, the raster guts of the 2070 may well not reach 1080 performance.

The 2080 Ti is, what, 30% faster than the 1080 Ti? The 2080 is on par with the 1080 Ti. So the 2070 should be about 1080 performance, but I'm half expecting it to be about 1070 Ti simply because xx70 Ti is 1 tier above xx70

Also pricing aside, the sad truth is that those extra silicon space that they set aside for delivering (underwhelming performing) Ray-tracing, had they use them for extra Steam Processors/Cores, the RTX cards would have been faster by some decent margin.
