I've fit the Brocken 3 to my AMD 2700X, keeps it nice and cool. Installation was also very easy, even got an Alpenfohn branded screwdriver so I could reach a screw through the heatsink!

The fans ruin the aesthetics of the actual cooler, IMO, I can't stand fans the protrude past the actual cooling block.

I'd be too tempted to go without them if I got one of these :)

Hnnnnng, looks a good cooler. I ended up buying a Cryorig R1 Ultimate from OcUK a few weeks back for a fair chunk more than these cost, similar cooling within a few degrees of each other too judging by the reviews!!

How do they compare to direct competitors i.e. dark rock 4/ 4 pro? Not much on them online

dark pro/4 should be quieter ( due to have one of the best fans at £20 a pop, pro having 2). Both models have 6/7 heat pipes vs 5 & 6 above .

you get what you pay for with bequiet for silence and performance together, but the above is damn good pricing for performance

Bearing in mind the included fan has a relatively slow max speed, the million dollar question is can an alternative fan be mounted?
Better performance and aesthetics could be gained by attaching an Arctic P14 but only if the mounting holes of the included fan are in the standard 140mm locations...

necro-ing a 2 year old thread lol.
it looks like the "140mm" fan has 120mm mounting holes. i suspect if you'd want to change the fan, you'd want something like the noctua A-15
