Do some research, the information is available in abundance. Here's a link to an article that covers your ludicrous point about the poor people of Stoke losing their 6 figure salaries.

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/nov/05/fobts-hammond-bookmakers-jobs-over-gamblers-lives

https://www.theguardian.com/society/2017/aug/24/problem-gamblers-uk-gambling-commission-report

And what do the addictive FOBTs in gambling shops have to do with bet365, an online bookie that takes sports bets?

You think these gambling addiction will be fixed by making gambling illegal? Did you think people stopped drinking during the prohibition?

Do you? Do you really think people will just stop because it is made illegal?

An outright ban is not the answer, adequate regulation is the answer. The reason the subject of the OP can make such fantastic sums, is because the industry she operates in has almost unfettered access to the addicts that they create. The level of employment or remuneration in the industry is no defence for the misery it brings.

Come on, behave yourself.

FOBTs are an example of regulation in the gambling industry, I didn't say it was specific to Bet365. And yes, Bet365 are not just "an online bookie that takes sports bets".

"Here's a link to an article that covers your ludicrous point about the poor people of Stoke losing their 6 figure salaries."

Are there other major gambling companies in stoke paying people 6 figures? It seems like you were referring to bet365... the pay of their CEO is the subject of the thread after all.

you linked to two articles that don't appear to have much relevance to bet365 but concern FOBTs in hughstreet shops

bet365 is a an online sports betting website that has also branded out into online bingo, poker, casino etc..

Yep, you're right. FOBTs bear no resemblance to the online casino in any way. All points made now invalid.

Happy to concede. :)

Do you not understand how many people I have to see who are on the brink of suicide because they simply have no time to raise their children, no time to feed their family, they realise that when they die they will leave their children a beat up house which they only half own, for 75 years, any and all of their living life is sucked bone dry by the capitalist system and that greedy **** at the top so he can amass billions on the shoulders of his slaves. And some of these people are on 60K+. Some are on 100K and still not content because they've been brainwashed into never being able to be content.

And you think I voice my concerns because it's important to me??? That is such an upside down view it's almost laughable!

Heck if I was actually thinking about me, and just me, and I was a greedy money fuelled fiend then I would say **** it make more slaves make more people depressed, the more people who are depressed the more patients I get eh, keep em coming. (a lot of psychiatrists actually do this :( especially those looking to commercialise things like transgendr etc.)

Just goes to show how people's thoughts are just upside down. No one has chosen this capitalist society lol, they are brainwashed into it from about 3 years old. They brainwash people into thinking certain things = success.

It's important to at least 80% of all the people who will ever live, the promise of money being their liberation, will NEVER occur. They will waste their one and only chance at life, stuck in a cycle of milking gold for a slave master.

And you think I'm thinking about me? :( I'm actually thinking about 80% of anyone that will ever live!

We obviously have two completely different views of the world so I wont even bother pandering to a response.

People enslaved by capitalists are not "my view" lol. These people exist in reality and the bottom level, or the base of the pyramid, this level does the hardest work and helps generate most for their masters for the least return. Again a fact of reality, not "my view".

Also I'm confused, you say you will not respond, however, in reality, you have responded.

It seems as if you are out of touch with reality? You assume things which are happening in real life are just "my view"?

Great next time I get a depressed person come to me I'll just tell them they are simply imagining everything and in "my view" they are fine and should just go home and keep on being enslaved. :)

So if you genuinely believe that the depressed people who come to you are depressed because they are "enslaved by capitalists", then your professional advice to them must be to immediately quit their job?

Another good article regarding this subject from The Guardian

https://www.theguardian.com/comment...nd-players-clubs-should-spurn-gambling-giants

It's a bit of a hatchet job on Celtic Football Club which becomes really obvious in the last paragraph. However, the article has a lot of merit; a professional football player now absent from the team due to mental health issues associated with gambling. The irony of the shirt sponsor is dark in this case, and depressingly for every food outlet in Celtic park there's a Ladbrokes outlet.

It's definitely not Celtic's problem alone, which is why the jibe at the end is disappointing. Also, with the gambling industry now volunteering to ban their own ads, you can see the desperate damage limitation exercise is kicking off. Turkeys don't vote for Christmas... Unless it's necessary collateral damage.

Perhaps they should stop selling fast food in the ground because some people have high cholesterol and fat guts, maybe they should ban sugary drinks because some people again are fat and/or at risk of diabetes, perhaps they should ban all alcohol from the ground because people get violent and alcohol addiction is serious.

I'm just going write this because it's pointless arguing this.

Yes they should be banned, and then it should be death by hanging for anyone thinking otherwise. This is GD so this is fine.

I love how you list those out in a tongue in cheek attempt to exaggerate the point, when in actual fact all those things should be banned from the ground and the latter actually is banned for exactly the reasons you state. :p

They need it, they can barely breath without the media telling them to.

This is ultimately what happens with "well meaning" lefties, they become Dictators and Authoritarians because they think they know best. They're so naive they don't realise the dangers of telling people what to do out weigh the dangers of letting them live within a free society.
