still cheaper then gtx 1070/70ti and 1080 which is almost matches ! Tensor cores seems to be a good step forward - just will take engine designers and developers to push its uses along with nvidia , RT cores not to fussed with personally

Looks like NVIDIA is going to release Turing based GTX 11XX cards without RT cores (possibly disabled), no word on Tensor cores or DLSS just an architecture based on Turing shaders and rasterisation. Several industry insiders have leaked this to multiple sources. They need something in the product stack below the RTX2060 to compete at the sub $300 price point.

Would make total sense since they need mobile GPUs below RTX2060 anyway.

Depending on what AMD announce at 5PM today, I’m now leaning towards this system.

Should last me for atleast 2years...

MSI B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC (Socket AM4) DDR4 ATX Motherboard
AMD Ryzen 5 Six Core 2600X 4.20GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail
PowerColor Radeon RX 580 Red Dragon V2 8192MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 PC4-24000C15 3000MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black (CMK32GX4M2B3
Samsung 970 EVO Polaris 500GB M.2 2280 PCI-e 3.0 x4 NVMe Solid State Drive

Going to see how it runs with my old case and power supply, as I’m not too bothered about efficiency. If the temps get too high I’ll replace it.

Edit/ Change of plan......

Ok what do you think of the following as a budget system, should keep me going for 12 months and if not will look at upgrading as and when. I don't see the point of spending anymore with PCI Express 4 etc coming out next year.

AMD Ryzen 5 Six Core 1600X 4.00GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail
ASUS PRIME B450-PLUS (Socket AM4) DDR4 ATX Motherboard
Gigabyte Radeon RX 570 Gaming 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-24000C15 3000MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black (CMK16GX4M2B30
Samsung 970 EVO Polaris 500GB M.2 2280 PCI-e 3.0 x4 NVMe Solid State Drive

£643

Edit / Change of plan I've just ordered the following... comes Friday :D

Ryzen 2600X
ASUS B450 ROG STRIX
ASUS RX 580 8GB
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB)
Samsung 970 EVO M.2 500GB
Antec 650W Gold Modular
Fractal Design Focus G Mid Tower

Came to £908.34 with next day shipping

would have gone for this for £10 more.

much more powerful gpu , sata 3 ssd but 15gb more space which would leave it at 500GB free disk space after formatting

class csae with PSU shroud , plastic windows scratch and attract dust like the plague !

£15 cooler and ryzen 2600 can overclock to 4.2ghz all cores, most land at 4.1ghz or 4ghz with stock cooler

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £918.49 (includes shipping: £12.60)

Too late now lol With the announcement of the Radeon VII yesterday, I’m sure the VEGA’s will drop in price once released later this year.

This is just a stepping stone system, will look again next year when Ryzen 3rd Gen have been released and PCI-E 4.0 is being utilised etc

just give them a call and amend if needs be , good jump in performance from rx 580 to vega 65 .

dont think prices would drop as RX and Vega are well under the £650 proposed pricing at Vega VII.

if flagship Vega VII does match rtx 2080/70 then AMD could release at least 2 more Vega cut down chips to hit RX 590 pricing until polaris style 7nm comes out etc

The RX 580 should do me for now, as long as I’m getting 60fps in Unreal Editor I’m happy.

I’ve taken the day off work so I can crack on when everything is delivered :)

Made a Windows USB Boot stick last night as I don’t have a cd drive anymore haha

depends how complex you go in the editor . been a while since i Used unreal ( uni days 2007)

engine is quite robust at least and can design games /visuals to be run with the lowest hardware which is a nice touch

keep eye out for Strix RX VRMs, not sure its as bad as the Vega which can overheat and throttle

Thanks for the heads up on the VRM issue, my RX580 isn't a STRIX though just the bog standard ASUS one... fingers crossed the temps aren't too bad!

Have to say the Fractal Design case is just bloody awful! Feels really cheap for the money and I've never had to use a pair of pliers before to fit motherboard stand offs

Getting Windows 7 Ultimate to install too has been a ball ache! Just upgrading to Windows 10 Pro now

Why I recommended the Antec, glass to. Careful with that plastic window !

Yeah ryzen was designed/launched after windows 10 anniversary build.
Even if you had first build of windows 10/8/8.1 would have been a massive struggle . Keeps crashing g until you update to build 1503 of win 10
