hi people
i'm thinking of getting a new system that is kind of future proof 1500 to spend however if i get a 2600 with top of the range mobo and all the rest of the bits when the Ryzen 3000 comes out do you think i would need a new mobo and ram, basically will it be on a new chipset so i would have to upgrade again

Got an i5 4690 at stock with gaming 3 mobo 2gb msi 960, 16gb ram 250 ssd, 500w corsair psu

If you get a good mobo now with a 2600, you should be able to update to the 3000 series using the same mobo. All you'll need to do is a bios update for the mobo and you're good to go

Praz94, could you define "good mobo"?

Also, worth considering the ram you buy. The current Ryzens support 2933, but its likely that the 3's will up that a bit. Though I've not seen any guesses as what it might go to, assume 3200 at the minimum.

A top end x470 board I'd say. It should be able to handle the 3000 series chips quite easily. At least at a bare minimum it should handle the 3000 series chips with 8c/16t as it handles the current 2700/2700x well even after overclocking

btw amazing system Quartz, i am looking at a new system always had intel but now thinking of AMD ryzen 2600/2700, gunna buy a new monitor as well hopefully a 1440 or 2k as i see the new word is now :) 144hz but after doing lots of research i see i'll need a really powerful gfx card to run it which is fine going to buy parts for new system anyway.
