Hello.

I wondered if anyone could give me some advice on gaming laptops please. I get bad headaches from 60Hz refresh rates and am looking for a budget laptop with a higher refresh rate (120Hz/144Hz) but can't afford more than £1,000 tops. Would also need minimum of 4 USB ports.

Does anyone have any recommendations please?

Cheers

Hi there.

If refresh rates are the most important feature, then it maybe worth looking at our FX504GM available at £999.99

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus...7-8750h-8gb-ddr4-gaming-laptop-lt-25n-as.html

Core Specs

15.6" Screen with 120Hz 3ms Display
8th Gen Core i7 CPU
256GB SSD (PCI-E) + 1TB HDD
8GB DDR IV
GTX 1060 (6GB VRAM)

This comes bundled with a mouse and rucksack.

Given the budget of £1000 144hz Screen maybe a stretch unless you compromise on CPU / GPU

Why do you need 4 USB ports? If it's for VR then you need to be aware of issues with some VR laptops that do not connect the discrete graphics card to the HDMI port.

Thanks for the info on VR Wrinkly.

I'm not using the laptop for gaming or VR. I just need a laptop for general use with a high refresh rate (as low refresh rates (60Hz) give me bad headaches), so the USB ports are for general peripherals (printer etc.). However, I can probably get a USB Hub or Port Multiplier for more USB ports.

I have an Acer Predator Helios 300 which comes with a rather superb 144Hz IPS screen. You can get the i5 8300, 1050ti for around £850 if you google...

I bought a asus tuf fx505dy. It has a amd ryzen 5 processor and a rx560x. 120mhz screen with freesync. The screen is decent for what it is, along with the build quality. The keyboard is a little spongy/mushy. Speakers are a little quiet but other than that I'm actually rather impressed by it.

Lenovo are also offering new models of their legion laptops with 144mhz screens if that's something you want to consider.

I find it great still using it as my main pc device. It does all I need and plays the Civ games perfectly.... No complaints at all really with it tbh.

That's good to here a positive review. I don't have any of the latest AAA titles so I assume it should do me fine for the price.
Sorry for bumping a few month old thread.
