I would love one of the 1tb drives, but also need to clone my existing 256gb Samsung 961 m.2 NVMe drive, but apparently the Samsung Magician software has not kept up with drive releases and it is not compatible, e.g. the software does not recognise your shiny new drive during the clone operation.

https://www.tomshardware.co.uk/samsung-970-evo-plus-ssd,review-34717.html

"You can use Samsung’s Magician and Data Migration software to monitor, benchmark, and even clone your existing drive’s data to your new Samsung SSD. At the time of writing, however, the latest version of Magician (v5.3) doesn't support the 970 EVO Plus yet."

The reviews where a month ago so things might of changed, worth checking if there was a new version

I have the standard 970 Evo, it's pretty rapid, when you notice it, like windows boot ups, can't imagine I'd need quicker :p

I doubt you would notice any difference, I find this with SSD's its very hard in real world to actually feel any difference between a good SSD and a really good SSD.

Most issues with not seeing the performance with nvme drives is down to the way windows cache data and also motherboard chipsets and bandwidth but still worth getting one for a boot drive for the average user.

I have in the past, Samsung Magician is much better and less prone to future issues
Like SM not being compatible ? ;)

I just bought the 970 evo plus 500gb coming from a SM961 256gb and I was going to do a clone but I thought it might be time to rest my 6th or 7th generation OS install and have a fresh Win10 install. So I backed up my files/exported what I needed did a fresh install on Win10 and it is faster now than before but this might be just because of the streamlined new install anyway. Before it was quick 12 seconds to desktop now its around 6-8 seconds. Noticeably quicker.
At least its fixed that stupid MS family issue thats been hanging around for a year.

These are fleepin amazing it just seems to be getting faster. Now I've only just lent forward to switch the PC on and when I settle back into my gaming chair Windows is at the desktop. Never thought I would notice much difference from my SM961 but its taken me by surprise.

As much as I doubt the speed difference will be noticeable I’m kinda glad I waited to buy one of these. I haven’t long bought a Samsung 2tb 860 SSD (non NVMe) for my Steam Library. Cost the same as the 1tb 970 evo NVMe version and it has twice the capacity :)

Just want one of these for my OS and Adobe really.

I have a 2tb samsung evo practically unused, Is it worth me selling it to buy this new PLUS version in 2tb?

sounds like a silly upgrade to each to their own, with m.2 Nvme SSDs theres really nothing in it tbh unless you want the new shiny hehe I would buy some normal SSD instead you can pick up 2tb sata SSD for around £180 if you look around

I’ve got a 960 500gb and i can pretty much guarantee I’m first into games like Insurgency Sandstorm so I can chose my class before it goes. That’s all I really wanted it for. They are ridiculously quick, could t imagine going back to what mechanical drives used to deliver. Man I love tech!
