Well, I thought all was well until last night.

I was playing Battlefield V and with 10 mins temps were hitting 95'c and the PC blue screened and rebooted.

My 3700x hits 95 degrees in Prime 95, the weird thing is, it just sits at this temp, still sits at 4GHz but the temp doesn't increase despite it not throttling any further

However with a EVO 212 Cooler in BF V, it doesn't go over 80 I think.

I installed the CPU and AIO last night onto an Asrock Taichi x570.

Idle temps were around 40’C.

I then ran a Prime 95 Blended test and within about 20 minutes the temperature hit 95’C.

I’ve removed the AIO block. There appears to be good contact between the CPU and block. There is a nice square of thermal paste on the block and CPU.

Why did I get such crazy temperatures?

High temps are pretty common from what I hear. Undervolting helped me though, so maybe give that a try as default voltages are very high.

I have a 3700X with PBO Enabled and PPT limits etc increased, running under a H100I pro, max temps in Cinebench 2.0 Multi test is 75c and scores just over 4700 points, single core score of 509 and in The Division 2 i see around 59-61c max temp, my pump runs on Extreme during games and benchmarks but fans on a custom curve, max water temps ive seen are 42c after a lot hours of gaming.
With an all core clock set to 4300 and volts set to 1.3v i got max 60c in the same Cinebench 2.0 test and score just over 4950 points, single core dropped to 478 though.

I am on stock cooler and prime blend does that to mine also
Handbrake encode is stable at 85 deg, same for cinebench and aida64, and gaming about 75
CPU just seems to hate prime though

I updated my bios to the latest 1.0.0.3ab and it stopped my chips hitting 4.4 boost, so ive been messing with settings and have it now on an all core OC at [email protected], Cinebench 2.0 tops out at 75c but Prime pushes the temps up to 84c, thats with the H100i Pro pump and fans on Extreme mode.
Gaming wise, in the Division 2, im getting around 55c wiht the Pump on Extreme but fans locked to 45% which is around 1200 rpm.
