Started a New job over a month ago and so my desktop pc is now essentially sitting there most days not getting used so im looking to buy a gaming laptop instead to replace it which I can then take with me, budget £2000-£3000, I saw these two laptops but not sure which would be best, eg

GXR Model, 16gb memory but 9750h

GX Model, 32gb memory but 8750h

possibly other differences but those were the stand out differences to me, which would you say is better, or perhaps something different? though I like look of these.

Will also be installing Linux Manjaro + steam do you think there would be any issues using non windows os?

Thanks

hmm apparently these require 2 power supplies  not something i really want to be carrying around also seems bulkier than some others so will look at other options, mostly want 17.3 screen and rtx 2080.

All of the 2080 pretty much require power supplies to really run full chat. That's the compromise.

Take a look at the Acer Predator Triton range for thin and light as the alternative esp for travelling. Max Q 2080 but they run cool and off battery, they will also run everything you throw at them. Based on the reviews they don't seem to throttle so out perform some faster 'on paper' laptops.

Optimus means you do get decent battery life when not gaming (7-8 claimed)

Hi thanks for the reply, ended up changing a few things, went with the Zephyrus S GX502GW, 15.6" rtx 2070 which will be coming this week.

Perhaps I will ask in the linux sections but Im curious if optimus would work in linux, quick google shows past problems for people but possibly nvidia has advanced in this area recently.
