In the old days (90s) it was very common for us to deliver a pc and set it up for the customer only to find out it wouldnt work when first powered up.
It was the car journey out jarring riser card - especially the old vesa local bus cards (video and IO) that had the long 32bit ISA extension card connector on the end which would wiggle loose unless you used copious amounts of hot snot (not something i liked using) or some other retention device.
But then almost all of the computer deliveries were done by the IT techs like me so it wasnt a major issue, although many a customer were cross there new £1000 plus computer was DOA even if it wasnt really.
