Intel is coming for Nvidia and AMD with it's 16 chiplet Xe monster

how likely are intel gonna be on what is there first attempt in the market though. whilst i expect intel to be competive one day but getting the whole package drivers and hardware right first time is a bit of a stretch:(

i5 10500k - 6 core, 12 thread with 4.3ghz boost clock

That's the one they need to be bringing in at <£170.

i9 10900k - 10 core, 20 thread with 5ghz boost clock

This one is irrelevant unless the boost is all-core for longer than 30 secs.

i7 10700k - 8 core, 16 thread with 4.8ghz boost clock

This is the best of the bunch, a 9900K with a lower boost clock, at <£300. Oh when I wrote best, I meant worst.

Intel should rename it to Casket Lake-S, since it's going to launch pretty close to Ryzen 4000

Intel can't be serious. Mid 2020 with ancient 14nm node CPUs is about a month or two away from 7nm+ Ryzen 4000. They'll be pitching their 14nm relic CPUs against CPUs two generations ahead :eek:

With 2 of them looking pretty much DOA against Zen 2 let alone Zen 3.

Intel marketing against Ryzen 4000:

Please buy our 14nm+++++ Comet Lake S CPUs.

- We only go up to 10 cores (competitor goes up to 16)
- We lose badly in multithreaded performance
- We have lower IPC
- Our efficiency is much lower
- We've lost the gaming crown at 720p with a 2080 Ti

But we can boost to *5Ghz on all 10 cores for a short while, whilst drawing 450W of power!

* Depending on cooling. We recommend a 360mm AIO liquid cooler or custom loop as our 14nm process is really inefficient.

You have to learn to turn all those things into positives by using phrases like 'trusted and tested' and 'real world performance' though. You're not ready to work for Intel yet.

They'll still send in droves to the millions of Intel fans though, regardless of actual real world performance.... will be interesting to see if AMD can actually pull ahead with a clockspeed deficit against another refined Intel 14nm++++++ chip.

It's still going to rake it in, the wafer cost and yields are probably peanust compared to AMD and so they can probably decide to price war hard, assuming they can actually produce them :D

This is true, but AMD have a ridiculous defect rate on their wafers currently, so will be interesting to see how cheap Intel can price these, one thing AMD has definitely forced Intel to do recently and that is drop their prices.
