The king of the north!
According to Panos Floppypoppy has spent £50 billion dollar francs. I mean does nobody do research around here? It’s not like bias could leak into some of the trolling..

@FloppyPoppy this just apeared in the road map ;) https://robertsspaceindustries.com/...1-Server-Side-Object-Container-Streaming-SOCS

This ones smoother, tho i'm not so sure SOCS has anything to do with it, the servers felt like silk all the way round tonight.

What am i saying? this IS because of SOCS its in the the 3.7 roadmap...

This is an important milestone!

There are 3 blockers that stop this game realizing its full potential.

Client side Object Container Streaming: In short the games assets are streamed in and out depending on the proximity of them to the player, assets that are a distance away from the player or not visible are streamed out of the local world so the players CPU and GPU needs not render them, it improves performance on the client side because your computer is only having to deal with what's local to you and nothing more.
This has already gone in some time ago.

Server side Object Container Streaming: the same thing as above only on the server, the server also needs to process all the physicalized assets in the game, with Star Citizen that's a lot given the size of the game world and the amount of physicalized stuff in it, anything that the player can interact with is physicalized, from the random shower gel bottle you pick up in your room and carry with you around the games to the largest ship and everything in it / on it.
This is critical for the game to expand, and expand out of the Stanton System. The server is limited by the amount of data it can handle at any given time, this limits the size of the playable world, prior to last night the servers were on the limit, hence the bad performance, with SOCS the servers are ignoring anything that isn't moving or being used by players. Last night this was switched on in the 3.7 live patch.

Server Meshing: Even with SOCS that limit of how much work a server can do at any given time remains, this limits the amount of players that reside on it, if a server can handle 100 players and you want 1000 players in the same instance you need 10 severs acting as one. This is Server Meshing.

When does server meshing come out?

Also is there a guide now atm on all the missions you can do in the game at present?

Edit: i started Typing this out before you replied ^^^^

Read this to get started, you can rent better ships with money you earn if you want to do more specialised missions.
-------------------------

If you're starting out and don't have specialized ships in your fleet there are two things i would avoid.

Cargo trading: Need a ship with reasonable amount of Cargo holding capacity, Cutlass Black minimum, buy cargo goods and any trade terminal and move the cargo to another location to sell for a profit, you need to learn trade routes, where to buy what cheap to sell elsewhere at a profit, there are spreadsheets for this around the internet, careful tho some of them are out of date.

Bounty Hunting (Live Player and NPC) / NPC escorts / NPC Pirate clear-outs: NPC are easy but if you don't have a ship with some fighting capabilities you will struggle or find it impossible to hurt some ships, you're not going to take on a Valkery with an Aurora MR.
Dedicated fighters Anvil Arrow minimum, great little ship that actually. An Aegis Avenger also has reasonable fighting capabilities tho the Arrow is more dedicated to that role and capable of taking on heavier ships.

Other than that you can play postman by moving boxes around and get paid for it, sounds idiotic but actually doing it you're travelling around the verse, its a good way to see locations and its something that i like to sometimes do because its low stress, its relaxing.
First person mining: get yourself the mining tool and a backpack, go searching for minerals and mine them, sell the raw materials at trading points.
Surface side FPS missions, get some armour and some guns, go to Hurston and play the unwanted residence missions.
There's a PI mission where you go to a blown up station to figure out what happened.

There's more, just spend sometime in there you'll find things to do, interact with players and Multicrew, that's often fun.

The best stater Ship, a good all-rounder. Avenger Titan https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/ships/aegis-avenger/Avenger-Titan

Anvil Arrow https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/ships/anvil-arrow/Arrow

Cutlass Black https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/ships/drake-cutlass/Cutlass-Black

You will need a game package, just get this and upgrade the MR to the Avenger or one of the others. it will cost you the difference in ship value https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/Packages/Aurora-MR-Starter-Pack
