Not one to leave Christmas presents too late, I've given myself a whole week to get my brother's Christmas present sorted. He / We have a strict "no tat" policy and I'm leaning towards getting him a selection of local to him beers or ales. He is in York.

I was also thinking of a brewery tour in Yorkshire.

I'm not a huge "real beer" drinker so does anyone have a any recommendations for what local (to him) beers I can buy on line, have shipped down to Southampton, for him to then take back up with him?

Bradfield Brewery, ah you want local to York... nevermind
This.
Bradfield brewery make some great stuff. Belgian blue this time of year is great but strong.
My personal favourite is farmers blonde. Could drink it till it comes out of my ears.
A close second is moonshine from abbeydale brewery.

Surely getting him something from where you are, based on styles he likes is a better idea?

But if it must be, anything from Northern Monk or Magic Rock will be good.

Off the top of my head, Hop Back, Ringwood and Hall and Woodhouse are all relatively close to Southampton and brew truly excellent beer. If available Hop Back stout is the best going.
