Nearly jumped on this last night, but 6 minutes is not enough enough to get changed, out the garage and onto Zwift and warmed up for a race lol. Tonight. Probably aiming at the 7pm or 7.30pm long ride.

TdZ stage 2 looks like the usual brutal loop and afterparty...! Going to need a good 1hr 20min for it.

Check result from my one last night on it.

I just did Tour de Zwift: Stage 2 Race (D) and thoroughly enjoyed it. I think it's the first time I actually felt like I was in a race. My trainer had unpaired as we started (I was joining in a hurry, running round getting a towel and drink etc so I think it maybe timed out?) so I started about 20 seconds behind everyone else, but that made it fun chasing people down and passing them. I think I passed about 30 (still finished near the back I'm sure) but I blew past many on the sprint and I guess I got the 10th best time?

Then as we came into the last 400m I was in a group of 4 or 5 and just started to put the power down and left them all behind. Great fun!

I didn't have time to check my settings until after, but my difficulty was on about 50%, so I moved it to about 75% (discussion from Road Cycling thread). Interestingly, I did better on 'Leg Snapper' but I knew it was only 400m or so, so I just powered through I guess. Passed a few people on the incline, which isn't normal for me.

Haha comical numbers, although his numbers look 'genuine' as does his profile etc. Just looks like a very strong rider? Although you could consider a guy from his ZP profile who prefers flat races (and does quite well at them) for him to be a fantastic climber too is a little suspect. My guess would be an incorrectly calibrated trainer. Lipka guy looks genuine too. Apers is a machine, good stuff if you where duelling with him up there! :D

Inns KOM is what, a 20 minute climb for A's? You where damn close to 19 mins on the segment I generally judge it with. Great riding buddy, 295W avg for it quite rightly at the pointy end.

We just got a new chariot for junior, not ridden with it yet but its a massive 2 seater he can ride in until the age of 5. It's 15kg alone. He's another 12/13kg too. I'm going to be seeing power numbers like yours just commuting lol

Great effort buddy, especially if you where able to stick with the A's early on, did you stay with them until the climb? :o

@Roady I think my PR up that is like a 16:40 if I remember right so I am a long way off where I've been :(

hahha the chariot plus the dude is going to be ridiculous. You'll have quads like Hoy after a month of towing that about!!

I did have the idea other week of putting house bricks in the pannier bags on my commuter for training rides :D

First 2 laps were good, lap 3 I dropped to around 100 then the climb finished me off, the last mile or so I dropped about 30 places.
Still, pleased with the effort & stage 3 on Monday.

Some really good efforts going on there guys and some big numbers thrown in. Good luck to all who still have stage 2 to do this weekend , I think i'm going to do the short route in the morning , probs the 11am one but just nice and easy maybe low/mid 2's
Then carry on on mincing until the race at 1210 and jump on that one

Another great increase! I'm slightly worried now as you've overtaken my current FTP (although overdue a test!) lol ;)

But be careful with the heart stuff, it's well worth speaking to some specialist/professional about it. Depending on the nature of the history/problem they've obviously set a 'limit' for some reason. To regularly be riding at it and above could be very risky, but on the flip side it might actually be really good you're able to comfortably do that.

My dad is really suffering with some arrhythmia now in later life, he's worked physically hard all his life so is finding it really hard to take things easy/rest enough. As it can be hereditary I had myself tested a while back but that was 'inconclusive' and before I got quite fit from all the cycling... Really would be a good idea to get tested again! Although I wear a HRM all the time and have never felt/seen anything odd, it is something I want to be aware of.

Yeah you cant let an old knackered out hasbeen like me beat your numbers :p

You are right in regards to the heart , I really must stay under the guidelines but I get carried away with wanting to push cos I feel there's more in the tank. Had angina couple of years ago and had 2 ops to put stents in. Needed 17cm of stents in the end (didnt know you could get that much in there ;)) and had a HA while on the table. Its all hereditary as both my older brothers and father have had heart ops too. Pensioned off from work so I have plenty of time to zwift these days.

If in any doubt take the safe option and get checked out mate , its a small inconvenience for peace of mind. GL

Stage 2 short ride was fun! I was part of a 3 up TT in around 35th place after the first climb that rotates nicely but we got swallowed up about 2 miles from the second / last time up the leg snapper. I got a feather so surfed wheels in the larger group then big ring attack to drop the group as the hill got steep. I had a 4s gap over the top but a group of 6-8 caught me on the descent with their extra weight and I just hung on to the sprint point when they broke apart and I passed about 4. I was max HR at this point so clung to the back and let them sprint for the finish

I know it was a virtual race for 40th place but Racing is awesome!

Stage 2 long this morning. Training schedule called for a zone 2 workout and I decided to do it fasted too. Started at 11am but wasn't a stupidly long fast as I had McDonald's at midnight last night on the way back from 4 hours of skiing :p So legs were a bit fatigued too!

Was placed around 425/500 most of the way cruising along at 200w or below with heart rate sub 140. Kept 200w going up the climb with a few 300w efforts and started flying past people about 80 in total to finish 343rd  Trainer difficulty 100% weight 83kg.

Finished in just under 90 mins with an average power of 190w (2.29/kg) and average heart rate 139 :)

Going to miss the next 2/3 stages probably. Busy Monday night and fly to Andorra at 6am Wednesday morning so won't have much time Tuesday night either seeing as I'll be leaving for the airport at 2am. Then I'll be away until the 30th so will be tough to catch stage 5. Skiing for a week so can't complain too much..

I did stage 2 this morning as my pre CX group ride, just to see what's what as I've only ever really just logged in and ridden around, much of the same taking it easy and finishing in about 1:25 or something. Mostly z2 with a few efforts. Might give a few races a go once my season is done.

Did get around to stage short this morning and took it nice and easy sitting in the draft low/mid 2's (i'm cat c) with a full sprint the first lap to shake the legs out. After completing the ride I just soft pedaled until 15 minutes before the stage 2 race started. Quick break and got stuck in , didnt hold the front group this time , felt a little fatigued and knew 2 x leg snapper to come so eased back and tried to draft the 2nd group. Kept with them and even dropped them on 2nd ascent of snapper but a 7 second gap was too much to hold and enedd coming in together. Mid 30's finish and 12th on ZP for average of 3.1wkg but felt really hard like I was constantly trying to hang on. Havnt checked which course is next so i'll pop off and have a look at this weeks schedule.

EDIT : Looks like I can do the Big Loop ride on Monday , the Sand and Sequoias short ride on Tuesday and follow it up with the Hilly race on Thursday. Sounds like a good weeks riding

Did the tour stage 2 long myself the other day. Was a good ride getting in with a bunch closer to the front. After 3 laps though I was pretty tired going up the Kom.

Also did the prl full route around London today. What a long boring ride that was, especially given London wasn’t the guest world.

Been collecting route badges and have around 15 left. Shame they are all the long ones!

Haha tell me about it, especially as I weighed the new chariotTANK at 19kg, not the 15kg as listed on the website! Little dude is 15kg too! I'm soon gonna be towing more than you weigh! ;) :o

400W into headwind towing chariot at 8-9mph has to be my funniest moment (looking back - at the time I felt that walking would be faster!). It could be good training, but much of the time I'm riding it to maintain speed (rather than pushing on) balanced against the fatigue. I ttry and judge when my Zwift sessions are going to be around the chariot commute on tues/wes/fri. You'll hardly ever find me on Zwift much before Wednesday night, if I've ridden on the weekend. It's unusual for me to not ride on the weekend (weekend just gone was an exception!).

First 2 laps were good, lap 3 I dropped to around 100 then the climb finished me off, the last mile or so I dropped about 30 places.

Good stuff. Planning to ride it myself tonight but we'll see...

Pffft, I'm a knackered almost-old hasbeen too! 40 this year!

Yeah that's my thinking, peace of mind than anything else. I'd rather know of something now while I'm fairly young/fit/healthy.

I know it was a virtual race for 40th place but Racing is awesome!
Welcome, brother.

Skiing for a week so can't complain too much..
I'm jealous! 4 years since we last went! Really liked Andorra when we where there.

Kudos and chapeau

Today will be the Big Loop Stage 3 TdZ , nice and steady and at least they arent making us do the radio tower when we get to the top

HALP, fat boi needing to shed some winter fluff.

looking at getting a turbo trainer for home gym life to supplement my strength training.

saw this one https://www.evanscycles.com/tacx-bl...REVmiYbf5vljD_6UkLBkERCtEqWGOKWxoCwvsQAvD_BwE

seems well priced, any other suggestions?

i would like the option of using Zwift although I may not use it so don't want to spend a fortune. budget can stretch to £200 although around the £150 mark or below is more ideal.

Personally i would save your money until you can afford a direct drive style trainer, It makes it much more fun and the more fun it is the more you will use it.
