Cloud data storage

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but...
I'm looking for a UK based cloud storage facility for a small business. Needs to be 200+GB and managed in as much as it needs to be backed up.

What sort of data are you backing up, documents, server snapshots etc? Is what you're backing up in a central location (e.g., file server), split between several users etc? Do you need long-term retention or just as a failsafe?

Documents from a small architects business. This needs to become the central data store for the business so data can be accessed on site, probably only 3 users. Backup is required as is data retention.

I’d just use Google Drive tbh - if you have huge amounts for longer term storage can look at AWS Glacier

Do you already have Office 365 subscriptions? Everyone gets 1TB of OneDrive storage for free so you could use initially until you need something more complex.

I think you can use Microsoft Teams to create a team folder if you want to create a folder everyone has access to.

I'd consider Azure File Sync. Good way to get a leg into the cloud proper, and not too expensive.

For 200GB i'd consider Goole. Many services have the data replicated to multiple sites as standard, have retention and also versioning.

Thanks for the replies, there will be no more than 4 users. Currently looking like Office 365 as the business also needs to keep up to date with Office.

^^ You get 4x 1TB (AFAIR) OneDrive Storage in that version but not for one user.

If you pay for 5 or more users with G Suite Business you get unlimited cloud storage (or 1TB for <5). https://gsuite.google.co.uk/intl/en_uk/pricing.html

Not sure I could get the end user to switch from Office

If your using Office, you can get an Office 365 Business Premiumn subscription. This will give you all the office apps, onedrive for personal storage and you can use Teams to create a Teams site for a central storage place. This teams site can be synced with Onedrive for ease of use.
You need to remeber though, that Office 365 does not backup the data. Yes there is data rentention and versioning in place to help, but they are not backup strategies. Ideally you need to backup the data, that applies to emails in Exchange online as well. You can use products like Druva or Datto, or maybe even Veeam backup for Office 365.

Get a decent NAS, like a Synology. It's a single outlay rather than subscription model, which wouldn't need to be a massively expensive model based on the use case you have outlined - a DS220j would fit the bill. It would allow a collaborative, cloud accessible storage facility and give you the ability to plug in an external HDD once a week to do a one-touch backup of all data. The major consumer brand ones like Syno and QNAP will also do all the cool feature stuff cloud providers offer, like multi-level versioning and automated backups but are infinitely more configurable for the exact specifications you need.

OneDrive teamed up with DATTO for unlimited backups. People forget that Microsoft doesn't back up your data. If you lose it and you're outside of the default retention periods, it's gone for good. If something happens on their end and it disappears, it's gone for good.

Been doing that for some years, I no longer wish to support it so need to farm it out.
