What do Police Officers wish they had two of?

I was due to attend a police reunion event but it’s obviously been cancelled. So we had a fun online Q&A instead. Lots of amusing questions but here’s one that had a surprising answer...

When out on duty, which item(s) of clothing did you wish you’d had two of? A spare one or pair that you could just click your fingers and change into?

Any ideas what topped the list?

Based on most of what I've seen of police, it would be fishnet stockings. Although there's a possibility that porn is not a reliable and accurate source regarding clothing worn by the police :)

For a serious answer, my guess would be socks.

I've gave it a lot of thought and I would probably go with Dis86 and say trousers, although when I picture your typical police officer today chasing people beyond making a token effort, let alone jumping fences I have my doubts. It's probably something like shirts because when I watch police documentaries they seem to spend lot of time babysitting drunkards on a night out.

Stab proof vest

Why would someone want two stab proof vests?

The question was explicitly about stuff you had one of and would like to have a spare one available for immediate changing at all times:

You got it!

Nowadays, of course, it's disposable gloves but go back a few years and officers wore the same gloves throughout a shift. Some of the things you had to deal with were disgusting and the gloves were just wiped... yuk!

Socks were a close second ... (Quote) “wearing a pair of damp socks inside your boots for the rest of your shift was unpleasant in the extreme”
