Hi I have an old subwoofer that was stored in the loft and got slight rain damage over the years, so have stripped it down and planning on painting it, so sanded and at 5he points of water damage it can be picked out easily like fibre, was hoping a spray with building up primer would do the trick, or what is suggested to seal it and get a base coat ?
Thanks

Not an expert but could you not use a wood filler to fill the wood you've taken out? Build the filler slightly proud of the rest of the wood then sand it back down to create a smooth surface to paint on.

Nah just paint it first with a thicker solution of Pva let it sink do a couple good coats, then sand it down and paint on..

Edit: autocorrect!

If the MDF’s been wet you probably won’t rescue it easily if at all. You could just get rid of all the furry bits and build it up with filler but it won’t be great.

You could build a new box for it? You’ve got the old one to copy from.
